The Old Pulteney distillery is a former urban distillery located in the far north of the Scottish mainland, in Wick, in the pultenetrown district. The extreme climate and the particularity of the stills allows Here the production of very characteristic and expressive single Malt whiskeys, of great personality. Old Pulteney was founded in 1826 in honour of Sir William Pulteney, a prominent Scottish lawyer and politician. At that time, given the harsh conditions of the landscape, the distillery was reachable only by sea: barley was brought to the distillery by boats and the first employees were Herring fishermen. Today the distillery has established itself as one of the most typical and characteristic production centers in all of Scotland and its whiskies are sought after and appreciated by an increasingly large number of enthusiasts around the world. The Old Pulteney whiskies represent an expression of the Highlands characterized by good freshness, a sweet and marine aromatic sharpness and an extraordinary drinkability, thanks to the ancient high Stills and without Gooseneck and a microclimate strongly influenced by the sea. For this reason the whiskies of Old Pulteney are known in all the Highlands also as "Maritime Malt", famous for the pleasantly saline taste and for the citrus aromas, which make them smooth and easy to drink.
