THE PRODUCER: The Merlet family's Cognacs merged their roots in 1850 in the village of Saint Sauvant, in the "Fins Bois" Cru, the area with the largest production of Cognac. This Cru is among the most variable of Cognac's six AOCs based on the area, where the Merlet distillery and its vineyards rise close to the "Borderies" and "petite Champagne," where the climate is partly affected by oceanic influences, but thanks to its deep chalky soil, the Cognacs produced in this area when brought to maturity are very intense and fragrant, with elegance of aroma and excellent complexity.
