Sassicaia and San Guido are names entered into the collective imagination at different times and for different reasons, but they are united by a single red thread. The palace of San Guido, and the long double-theory of cypress trees to the sides of the road that connects the village of Bolgheri owe their fame to the famous Giosuè Carducci, Giuseppe della Gherardesca erected an obelisk in 1908, who died the year before. San Guido and the vast estate that bears this name entered the Incisa della Rocchetta holdings on October 18, 1930, the wedding day between Mario and Clarice della Gherardesca, heir to the great patrizia Maremma family. Its territory extends from the Tyrrhenian Sea to the hills behind Castiglioncello, at 396 meters high. The beauty of its landscape is known: its typical landscape, wild and sweet, enjoys an incredible microclimate. Two thirds of the area is forested, the rest is divided between the training center and the breeding of thoroughbred horses of the Dormello-Olgiata Breed, The Oasis of Bolgheri and the cultivated land. These are partly the famous "sassicaie" genially identified by Mario Incisa as an ideal home for vineyards planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, and partly used for extensive and traditional cultivation. The estate slopes towards the sea, to the West, with rolling hills, up to the beautiful coast of dunes and Mediterranean scrub. Today, San Guido is a modern farm run directly on the edge of a wildlife and environmental Oasis, The Oasis of Bolgheri, the first internationally recognized Italian.
