Description: With its generous and elegant personality, Glenlivet Distillery's 18 Year Old Single Malt Whisky is able to enrapture the taster's senses from the very first taste. This single malt Scotch whisky is the result of a very long aging process lasting 18 years and brings with it both the mastery of Master Distiller Alan Winchester and the established tradition of Glenlivet Distillery, which has been in operation since as far back as 1824. The distillery is located near Ballindalloch, a small village in the Speyside area renowned for giving birth to some of the most prestigious Scotches ever. Glenlivet Scotch Whisky Single Malt 18 Years originates from pure barley malt processed by the Glenlivet distillery in the Speyside area. The operation of malting the barley grains is followed by mashing, or infusion, which results in the wort. This is placed to ferment for a few days and the liquid is then distilled in copper pot stills. The distillate is then aged for 18 long years in different types of barrels, including first- and second-pass American oak barrels and those previously used for sherry maturation. American barrels typically bring soft hints of tropical fruit while ex-sherry barrels give elegant spicy notes.
