Nino Negri is one of the largest and most well-known wineries in Valtellina. The origins of the winery date back to 1897, when Nino Negri, originally from Aprica, after his marriage with Amelia Galli, decided to start the wine business in Chiuro. Today the winery, led for 40 years by the great Casimiro Maule, in addition to the vineyards owned manages the funds of another 280 small winemakers associated in cooperative, playing a key role in the oenological sector of the Valtellina territory. In the 36 hectares of vineyards of Nino Negri, all with a beautiful exposure, the attention to environmental sustainability is very high. This is due to a high-level team that has chosen a production philosophy without the use of weeding and chemical fertilizers, but that has opted for the use of manure and soft pruning. Note the installation of weather stations able to monitor the climate of each vineyard.In the cellar Nino Negri count 1500 new French oak barriques, and more than 100 barrels of different sizes, where the wines treated by Casimiro Maule can age in elegance and character. Very interesting is the cult label of the winery, the Sforzato 5 Stars, a wine that best expresses all the character of the region and the Valtellina tradition.
