The yellow date tomato, contrary to popular belief, is the progenitor of the tomato we know today. The first tomato growers were the indigenous Americans who made a large and immense consumption of it and thought the yellow berries had aphrodisiac power. The plant was later exported to Spain for ornamental use, but it was from there that the Italians took the name "pomo d'oro" to use the fruit that is on our tables today. The yellow datterino has a sweet flavor and is characterized by a total absence of acidity. At harvest, it occurs in regular clusters of 14-16 fruits, with an undefined and uniform cylindrical shape. It is rich in substances with high antioxidant power capable of neutralizing free radicals. It also contains vitamin C, A and B vitamins. Precisely because, compared to the classic tomato, it has no acidity, it is widely used in fish and seafood recipes and to stuff pizza
