DESCRIPTION: A 2018 edition (the ninth) of Glenmorangie's Private Editions, each of the releases in this series is created and overseen by Bill Lumsden himself the Director of Distilling at Glenmorangie and Ardbeg. Dr. Lumsden surprises us this year with the first aging of a single malt Scotch whiskey to occur totally in barrels that have previously contained American rye whiskey (rye whiskey). Aging in ex-rye whiskey barrels gives this single malt distinct spicy and tangy notes. Glenmorangie Spios (in Scottish Gaelic, "spios" means spices) is a single malt Scotch whiskey that ages entirely in select American oak casks that have contained whiskey made with a 95 percent rye mashbill and aged for at least 6 years
